Chapter Philanthropy and Service
"to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving"
Our Creed teaches every Zeta Tau Alpha the importance of service and giving back to our community.
Iota Omicron is proud to say that our philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness and Education!
On Iota Omicron's Programming Council's overseen by Taylor Gibson (VP1), the following sisters serve on the Philanthropy Committee:

One event that we are excited to bring to campus this year is our ZTA Zumba "Pump up the Pink" event. We have set a goal of raising $4,000 at this event and are encouraging all Lander students, faculty, and staff members, along with Greenwood community members to come out on April 16th from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the Lander Legion Building (806 Calhoun Ave. Greenwood, SC 29649). Tickets are currently on sale for $5 and you can contact any sister to get one!
Each October at Lander University, we host our annual Pink-Out Week. During this week, we have sisters sitting at our table doing different activities like Kiss for a Cure, Paws for a Cause, selling pink lemonade, and Bra-Pong. This week is something every ZTA loves counts down until because we always have a great turn out, it is a lot of fun, and it raises a lot of awareness for our philanthropy.
In the fall of 2018, Iota Omicron hosted a Pageant, the Miss Crown for a Cure pageant. This pageant was for girls from the age of 0-18 years old all over the Greenwood community. This year, ZTA raised a total of $4,189.62 for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.
Our sisters also enjoy taking part in the Pretty in Pink pageant at Self- Regional Medical Center. This is a pageant put on by the staff with the participants being cancer survivors. It is a humbling experience because sisters are able to work first-hand with survivors and get involved with the community.
Our Chapter has also decided to work closely with the Bowers Rodgers Children Home. Every month, sisters donate money so that we can donate gift cards or other supplies that Bowers Rodgers is in need of. Sisters have also gone and hosted "spa nights" with the girls living in the home along with partnering with mens organizations to play sports or video games with the boys.
We have also worked with Kinard Manor, a Veterans shelter, Greenwood's Humane Society, and Connie Maxwell. Our chapter emphasizes on giving back to the local Greenwood community, along with our national philanthropy, because service is so important to every Zeta Tau Alpha.
We are continuously looking for more ways to get more involved in the community!
